What is magnesium L-threonate?

Magnesium is a mineral that is essential to many bodily functions. It is involved in over 300 different biochemical reactions in the body, which means it's a pretty big deal! In your brain, it helps with the regulation of neurotransmitters, which are chemical messengers that transmit signals between nerve cells in the brain.

However, magnesium does not easily penetrate the blood-brain barrier (BBB), which is a protective layer of cells that separates the blood from the brain and spinal cord. The BBB is designed to prevent potentially harmful substances in the blood from entering the brain, but it can also prevent beneficial substances such as magnesium from crossing over. A key to your brain is needed and this is where L-threonate comes in.

When magnesium is combined with an L-threonate molecule, it can cross the blood-brain barrier and support the regulation of sleep and relaxation. Magnesium L-threonate is therefore the most-effective form of magnesium.

What is L-theanine?

L-theanine is a naturally-occurring amino acid found primarily in tea leaves. It's believed to be responsible for the calming and relaxing effects often linked to drinking tea. Unlike other stimulants, such as caffeine, L-theanine does not lead to jitters or a crash in energy levels.
